It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

One of my favorite times of the year. The Met gala. I watch the livestream of the gala every year. I love watching everyone arrive on the carpet and pose in their fabulous, couture gowns. It's always fun to see who designers choose to dress and bring as their dates to the event.

This year the Gala is honoring Charles James. James was a legendary couturier from the 20th century. Born in London, he then moved to design in Paris and New York City (only 3 of the most fabulous fashion cities!). Christian Dior and Cristóbal Balenciaga even credit James on inspiring some of their designs. The gala is Monday May 5th and will be open to the public on May 8th. I cannot wait to visit the exhibition when I vacation to NYC this summer!

Below is a photo of a Charles James gown, along with a few of my past favorite Met gala gowns.

ASOS Checkerboard Dress: $52.68

Urban Outfitters Fringe Bag: $109

Gucci Fringe Bag: $2,500

Zara Sandal: $59.90

Prada Sandal: $990

Don't you just love when you find the look for less? I know I do! Above, I have three items that are similar to a designer piece to help out my fellow fashionistas on a budget! This edition includes Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Prada
Personally, I like the Zara sandals more than the Prada ones. I just wish Zara made them in a size 5:/  I really love both the Gucci and Urban Outfitters suede fringe bags. Fringe is in this season. From suede to leather, it has been all over the SS'14 runways. Check out H&M too for some great affordable fringe leather bags!
Total price for the Vuitton dress, Gucci bag, and Prada heels is about $5,100 while the other items retail at a total of only $220! Can you believe the difference?

Seeing Spots with Philip Lim

I think I can speak for most girls when I say that having a closet full of designer clothing would be a dream come true. However, this dream can be pretty pricey, which is why I love when runway designers pair up with stores like Target and H&M to produce affordable, quality pieces. Most of the time the pieces resemble the designer's high end collection!

Nothing gets me more excited than waking up early and waiting in line outside of Target the morning of a collection launch. The Philip Lim X Target collection was one of my favorites! I absolutely loved every single piece. I bought so many fun items and was able to mix and match most. My favorite purchase was the yellow tote. You can find it on my Instagram page @wearischelsea. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for more looks!

Hope you are all enjoying the blog so far. This is only the beginning! Lots of exciting things to come. Xx

Lace Lover

One of the biggest trends for Spring is lace! It was all over the Spring/Summer 2014 runways. I have always gravitated toward lace. There is a certain femininity about it. I believe that every woman needs a little lace in her wardrobe.

Below are two lace trends I absolutely love. The left is from the Chanel fashion show. Karl of course can do no wrong. The picture to the right is a trend from the Burberry fashion show. This season Burberry has incorporated many lace looks. A few include lace along with applique. Add your own applique to your lace this season! I know I will be!

Hopping Into Spring

I am so excited to show you all my Easter look. Often I find myself trying to find that perfect holiday look. What goes into a look you may ask? For me, I often find one specific piece I absolutely love and base my look around that piece. This year for my 21st birthday, I received a piece of jewelry from my mom. It was a gold necklace with a diamond pendant. For every big birthday, my sister and I are privileged enough to pick a piece of my moms jewelry. This year I chose the necklace seen below. I love this tradition. Hope you guys enjoy the shoot!
